Here at SIA Iron Designs, we do a little more than just iron fencing, railing, and gates. We also do some custom iron fabrication. One of the large demands we have is A/C Cages. A/C Cages are just as it sounds, it’s an iron cage around your A/C unit. We know that these are not to commonly known so we put together some of the most frequently asked questions we are receiving regarding A/C Cages.
Q: What is an A/C Cage?
A: An A/C Cage is a structure built around your exterior A/C unit. It is designed to protect your unit from larger debris and theft of the copper piping.
Q: Is installation difficult?
A: Typically the answer here is no. However, every situation is different. In most cases, we will come do some simple measurement and then fabricate the cage to fit around your A/C Unit
Q: Is it okay that my A/C condenser pad is plastic?
A: Plastic is okay, however, we will recommend that you purchase a size large then needed for your A/C Unit. If willing you can also replace the pad prior to purchasing the cage in order to get the appropriate size.
Q: Will the electrical and piping be in the way?
A: No, we will fabricate the cage around the electrical and piping fixtures.
Q: Will the cages show rust?

Q: Will this prevent theft?
A: At the end of the day, theft is hard to completely prevent. However, much like adding a bike lock to a bike, it’s a great deterrent that should keep your A/C unit from being targeted.
